"creating a culture of healthy lifestyles 2014"

On September 25, 2013, the Capital Area Health Alliance held its annual Community Leaders Breakfast - "Creating a Culture of Healthy Lifestyles 2014". Over 100 attendees were welcomed to the event by East Lansing Mayor Diane Goddeeris and Margie Clark, MSN, RN, GNP, Chairperson of the Board of the Capital Area Health Alliance and Dean of Health and Human Services at Lansing Community College. The Alliance then updated attendees on its activities of the past year, including a Spring/Summer Choosing Health!® Rally and the Michigan Department of Community Health 4 x 4 Grant award for 2012-2013 and 2013-2014. Next, representatives of thirty area organizations were given the opportunity to present briefly on their organization’s healthy lifestyle programs.

Finally, facilitator Jan Urban-Lurain led a discussion on how to build on the existing momentum and make even greater healthy lifestyles strides in 2014. (Please find Ms. Urban-Lurain's presentation on Collective Impact HERE.) Results of this strategic planning process will be used to coordinate ongoing collaborative activities and carry on the work of the Choosing Health!® campaign. Please find a summary of the feedback provided during the strategic planning session HERE.
